Sunny with a chance of ...

I knew it! Somehow deep inside, I knew I wasn't going to be able to write any posts. I've had intentions, but the reality always seems to be completely different from what I have in my mind.

First comes the jet lag, then the kids over excitement, followed by finding a computer that works (I don't travel with mine), then finding what I would like to say or show (which is the tricky part).

We are now slowly getting into a routine, which means going every morning to the pool followed by various activities which basically, mean not much, but enough.

Staring at palm trees and the always present blue skies (thank you Miami weather!! I think you are absolutely gorgeous, and I feel so blessed to be able to feel warm at this time of the year).

Visiting colorful markets and wandering aimlessly throughout.

Lounging at this time of the year? Pinch me please!

Oh, the sunsets!! Everyday there is a new show. Free!

And of course some very yummy food, dairy is a major group right? Jaxon's is a favorite, and we don't miss the chance to go there. I did manage to finish this Rocky Road with marshmallow fluff and hot fudge. My absolute favorite!!

So far it has been very sunny with a chance of palm trees, sunsets, ice-creams, bookshops, toy stores, walks, and a movie with the husband (which I loved). That seems plenty to me, so far. If something else comes up, I'll be sure to pop in here, but I will just leave it at "I'm not sure."

I hope all is wonderful at your end and it has started to feel a lot like Christmas,

Bookstore where art thou?

The bookstore were we (my sister, nephews, mom...etc) used to go to for inspiration, for research, for fun, for a children's corner, for tea...for a change of atmosphere for God's sake! IS NO LONGER THERE! And guess what? There is no bookstore insight! As you all know by now, I'm in Miami and will be for a little while longer; I've never been one to love this city, even though I like the weather, the beach, palm trees, good Colombian food... There are too many things I will never understand, and this: will be added to that long list. I feel so sad and impotent, and to think that in New York at least you get options, there is a 'every magazine' shop on every corner, the Strand, several well located Barnes & Noble, small bookstores with personality...I could go on and on!
Miami is definitely a place for malls and shopping, sadly the shopping part doesn't include any books!

I will keep on wondering to see if maybe I'll understand. Appreciating the beautiful palm trees and the mesmerizing ocean accompanied by this almost perfect weather. Good thing I'm painting and sewing to keep me sane...PATIENCE is really a virtue. Isn't it the saddest to find out your spot to 'unwind and get inspired' has closed?

Wishing you bright and warm days ahead!

Palm Trees

I've forgotten how many different palm trees there can be. They're not very popular in New York although there are a lot of types of palm trees that can manage in temperatures of -20F! There can be the occasional palm tree that you spot at someone's garden or a restaurant but never like in Miami! It could easily be called Palm City (yeah right) they're literally everywhere! And quite beautiful may I add...

Lately I'm very inspired by how their outline changes as the sun progresses in its daily routine. I'm very intrigued by their differences and for the many flowers and fruits they produce.
Another obsession I guess. Those circumstantial obsessions that I happen to love because they make my days much more exciting!
So, how many different palm trees have you spotted lately? And what are your plans for the weekend? I'm painting with a deadline (which is so much fun)! And my sister is super excited to be going to this craft fair!

Have a great weekend!
Giannina.
