Embroidered Poem

I read this poem of Yeats and thought to myself; "Wouldn't I love to spend almost a month embroidering a poem just for the sake of embroidering one?"

I didn't really think all that before hand. I just thought it would look amazing embroidered on this old handkerchief that I got in France (I did get 40 handkerchiefs after all). That was about as far as my mind took the entire thing.

The days passed and I advanced at the speed of a snail (a really, really slow snail).

Finally the embroidering of the words was done, but I felt the terrible urge to add more things here and there, so it is still a work in progress.

I loved doing this. I love embroidering words. Something inside of me has found its purpose and it is completely blissful and calm (two virtues that evade me completely).

All my best wishes to you.
Giova

  5. It looks amazing, Giova! Totally worth the time you spent! I like that it's "just" letters, so pure and very personal. What are you going to do with it? Frame it, hang it on a bunting, or use it?
