I've always been a fan of
Sublime Stitching. Ever since I got her
book (a long time ago), I was hooked! So, obviously the first chance I got to follow her (
Jenny Hart- none other than the creator of sublime-
embroideries- stitching!) on instagram, I did! Inspired by her latest creation, which I already ordered, decided to venture into my "own" attempt at
'vintage ornaments'. The truth is: I only made one ornament; the other truth is, I embroidered it on paper (I love stitching on paper what can I say...)
I started by drawing something similar to a xmas ornament and somehow wanted to include in it a
hypotrochoid flower but my always abstract mind turned that flower into a mix of candy cane/spider web. When you're happy with your design just continue to make holes with your needle all along the lines. Then comes the easy and relaxing part, embroider as you wish!
I'm very happy with the result, what do you think? I'm even excited I brought out my metallic thread and wasn't afraid to use it! The possibilities are endless...I can't wait to get my new patterns and stitch away cards and decorations...Are you making your Xmas cards? Any handmade decorations?
Giannina.
