Cherry Blossoms in the Amsterdam Forest

For a day (last week), thursday to be precise, it felt like finally spring had arrived. It was the first day of spring after all, and we decided to run and see if the cherry blossoms were in bloom.

It turns out very few trees were and lots of them were not. But because the sky was blue, it looked just perfect.

There are 400 cherry blossoms in the Amsterdamse Bos planted in a circular garden. For some minutes there, I actually felt in Japan. You can trick the mind quite easily I think.

Our first picnic of the year turned out to be a success and a favorite of my little one. It was truly a very magical day.

We went back yesterday. Another typical spring day with pouring rain, hail, wind, and then later in the day sun. It was grey at the time, and as you can see all the trees are now in bloom.

Unfortunately the blossoms only last for 10 days, so it looks like I'll be heading there every day. I will be posting more pictures here.

Have a beautiful day,
Giova

  5. Looks like sakura in Kyoto! So lovely. All the cherry blossoms have come and gone here. Now we're about to enter the azalea/rhododendron period. Also pretty!
