A Girl Crush - Dietlind Wolf

One of my highlights (big and with capital letters) of The Hive,  was being able to listen to Dietlind Wolf. It is so nice to actually meet someone you follow and admire from afar, only to realize that the person is unbelievably kind and giving. Her sensibilities are obvious when you've seen her work, but then everything clicks perfectly when you get to hear how she works and how she develops the concepts for her work. Her workshop was truly incredible and inspiring.

Why do I like Dietlind Wolf so much?

For starters let me say that this is one cool lady. I loved how she was dressed that day and so it added many more points to my crush, (totally lame thing to say, I know), but that is how it goes. I would love to see things the way she does, everything is meticulously perfect in her way. Basically I simply feel inspired by her work.
So there you go, oh, and I would love to see her work space, it would definitely be the coolest thing ever!!

So tell me, you people out there, what would you love to do if you got to spend the afternoon with your crush???

Wishing you a most happy day!

A Girl Crush-Danielle Krysa

Are you thinking who she is? So was I, because I knew her more as The Jealous Curator. She is down there in my list of blogs we like, and up there with the people I would love to spend the afternoon with. I'm a great admirer and follower of her blog. The use of the term "girl crush" for this blog's series was actually born because of her. My sister and I haven't been able to go to these tea parties, and we really want to, badly!
I actually met her, because she was a speaker at Alt. No tea was involved, but she was very helpful and nice in our short conversation. When you meet a crush, it is such a relief to know they are kind, and not bothered to talk to yet another person. Hooray for cool, interesting, and amazing women!

Meeting her was one of my highlights at Alt. Hopefully one day, I get to actually sit down at one of the tea parties, or maybe she'll bring them to Europe?

Why do I Like Danielle Krysa so much?
Two very simple reasons: First; she finds the most amazing art for The Jealous Curator, which inspires me, and keeps me constantly going to her blog. Second; her girl crush invention, which to me is the perfect gathering, I'm so jealous of her for coming up with this (no pun intended).
She was so open and kind to talk with, I'm really grateful for this. -This is not a reason as I already had a big crush on her before we met, this is just the icing on the cake-

Have a happy Monday!

A Girl Crush - Janine Vangool

I actually got to meet this "crush" of mine with sweaty palms, trembly voice and all! She is none other than the editor and creator of my favorite magazine. I went all the way to Eindhoven just to hear her talk, and then to a meet and greet at my favorite magazine store here in Amsterdam. I felt a bit like a stalker actually, but I just thought to myself; "If you don't go and talk to her, you might never will. Are you going anytime soon to Calgary? No! Then when do you suppose meeting her will take place?" This inner dialogue went on for quite a bit. I really do have to push myself to do this kind of things, I've never been social, more like the one sitting in the back, listening!

So I did find the courage to talk to her, and ask her silly questions about her life and her magazine, and now I have a picture to prove it!!!

Why do I like Janine Vangool so much?
Well, it pretty much boils down to plain admiration for her amazing work. Uppercase is the most beautiful and most inspiring magazine out there. The books she has published (I only have Dottie Angel, and Work/Life 2) are just as wonderful as the magazine. And then I'm just grateful because her magazine has shown me things I've never would have found otherwise.

Have a wonderful day!

A Girl Crush: Pema Chodron

Oh my girl crushes! Yes its a funny term as my sister previously mentioned, but ask any of us girls and we all have them. I was thinking about my very long list of them and decided to start with Pema. Yes, I like to call her by her first name (her first name is Ani) as if we are already the closest of friends. I feel as though she's been with me through thick and thin, and been there guiding me every step of the way (which way I'm not entirely sure). The first book of hers that I read (and its still my favorite of hers) was "When things fall apart", it is a book that I keep on my night stand with the rest of her books. They are all highlighted and have basically turned into those 'quote books' that you open for answers or lessons, or just words of hope when all she is telling me is to 'abandon hope'. Funny enough I was introduced to her by none other than my sister. My sister happens to be the person I go to for book recommendations (and for many other things, but we are talking about books!). And so, thats how my Pema girl crush really started!

These pictures came from herehere, and here
I wish I could invite her for tea!  I wouldn't even ask her anything...I would just listen. Since I'm away from all the books that I usually have in hand, I went on and bought "Practicing peace in times of war". Its really amazing how just by reading her, my problems melt away. Weird things are happening: Sandy, Election Day, big moons, mood swings hahaha!!! Its wonderful to have someone that can give you a little (or a lot) perspective.
Thank you Pema Chodron! I admire you deeply.

A Girl Crush- Martha Stewart

A funny little term isn't it? Have you heard of the "Girl Crush Tea Parties" created by The Jealous Curator? I'm so jealous that I don't live close by to any of these girls so that I can go for tea with them!
My favorite of all, (of course) was the one with Dottie Angel, so inspiring, perfect and "peachy" indeed.
My sister and I have been talking about our girl crushes, which I guess they were secret in a way or supposed to be, at least. My list is long and apparently hers is too. So we have decided to share with you our crushes, and hope that you share with us, yours too.
I'm starting with a crush I've had for the longest time, and can't really remember when it started or why, all I know is, I still have the deepest crush and nothing can alter the strength of it!

These are not all! I did throw away the Baby and Kids ones.  I had them all, but I move too much! Oh, well!
These, I did keep!
That is supposed to be my sister and I at the entrance of the Martha Stewart Show.

And that in the circle is Martha. This is the closest I have been to my "crush"!
And my sister and me at the show! Don't focus too much on our foreheads, instead look at that amazing kitchen behind us, if you can! Oh, disposable cameras were so cool!
Why do I like Martha Stewart so much?
Because she is a constant source of inspiration! Her magazines have always been my "comfort food". When I got married, had a baby shower, cooked Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner, the first place I looked for inspiration was in her magazines! I still do! I love the perfection of it all!

Have a great day!
