DIY- Paper flower basket cards

My sister is joining us today with a very cute and simple diy for Mother's day or any day for that matter. I think they look great as place cards but also as cards.

Hello everyone, it is so nice to be back!  In some parts of the world Mother's Day is coming very soon and a while back my sister and I had a conversation on how as kids get older they stop making gifts for their mothers. My sister has the perfect example because of my nephews' age difference. While the little one brings home paintings and plasticine keepsakes, the 'teenager' one is barely reminded at school of this very important day.

This is a very simple do-it-yourself that can be done with the kids, even the little ones.

The idea came to me while my sister was coming up with last week's paper flowers diy, I thought it would be fun to make a small basket of flowers were you can write notes in, or poems or just words of affection! They're perfect as place cards for a mother's day brunch or dinner, or as cards to be given or mailed.

What you'll need:

  • scissors
  • paper
  • pens
  • washi tape, glue or thread
  • circle puncher not necessary but helpful

First cut all the circles. Then grab which ever colors you want for the basket and glue or sew them (as in the first picture) together leaving enough space to fit all the little flowers. Folding one of the circles a bit higher than half. This will be the basket and the little flap helps it stay up.

For the flowers you'll just have to fold in half, fold once more and if you want a skinnier flower you can always fold again. The note, poem or words of affection will go inside every flower or just one and it can be a surprise!

I hope you get inspired to make your own version of these baskets. They're really easy and they look so beautiful at the dinning table. Of course they can be done for any occasion but I'm pretty sure your mom and my mom will love it!!!

I'll be contributing from time to time so I'm very excited and I really hope you enjoy it too!

Have a wonderful day!

Giannina.

DIY - 6 Paper crafts using old books

Now with old books in my house I've been crafting like a mad woman. This little card, was given to me by Julie at the end of the workshop. It is the one to blame, for it has unleashed an "old book rampage."

She used a really beautiful rubber stamp she had made, and just added a string to tie it.

Lets start with some pretty flowers.  How about a bouquet of neon flowers? Perfect to tuck in with your letters, or to add on top of your presents.

As if my house needed more buntings!  I like how the neon color looks against the old paper. The string is just a bunch of scraps and selvedge tied together.

Strings are really my favorite thing to make. I used some hole punchers, and  I just drew the other pieces. And then to give it a bit of weight I added a few buttons.

I left this one simple, but I really want to make one with a lot of rubber stamps printed on the  paper.

Is never too early to start thinking about the Christmas card you'll send to your friends, or is it??

I bought this note pad at the supermarket, ugly cover, nothing special. Now I think it is pretty darn cute.

Simply cover with an old page that has a nice illustration. Then use your favorite washi- tape, and rubber stamps.

And well... you know me. I had to make some envelopes using the paper. I wouldn't feel "complete" if I hadn't made some.

I'm glad I'm putting the pages of those old books to good use. I'm also glad I discovered that crafts using old books are really incredible because not much is needed. The whole beauty is in the old page (is that corny enough?).

Okeydokey, this is it! I promise I won't be covering lamps or tables with the paper. Or that next week there will be a post with 10 "new" ideas for old book pages.

Have fun and a happy weekend!
Giova.
